“Hispanic and African American Media: Serving Local Communities, Impacting the Publishing Industry”

NAHP (Hispanic Press) & NNPA (@BlackPressUSA) Organize Historic Legislative Summit

Two major minority press associations, representing hundreds of local and community newspapers across the country have banded together to carry out an unprecedented 3-day legislative summit in Washington DC aimed at increasing the visibility and viability of African American and Spanish language press in the United States during this 2016 election year.

Leaders from the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) and the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) along with dozens of publishers from across the United States will meet in DC on Capitol Hill and at the National Press Club to reinforce the assets and power of member publications and hear from national political leaders on the 2016 elections and beyond.

OPENING RECEPTION

Welcome event where attendees can interact with special guest speakers, elected officials, sponsors and industry professionals to kick-off the next 2-days of networking, information and creation of opportunities for the Hispanic and African American publishing industry.

 Thursday, March 10, 2016

A full day starting with Continental Breakfast and continues with workshops geared to enhancing opportunities for publications to work with federal government entities, matchmaking with agencies and government buyers, and visit to the White House for meeting with staff on topics of interest to both our publishers and communities.

The event will also have an Editorial track component to engage our members and publishers to ensure that the community we serve and target are aware that our content is of great value, while creating business opportunities for our publications without losing the credibility of our editorial content.

The day will end with a Reception at the Washington Post for an evening geared to discuss the topic of Spanish language in America as well as having youth informed and encouraged to follow the industry path. Special guest speakers and elected officials will be part of this event.

Visits to Capitol Hill Legislators to discuss policies that affect both our industry and our communities are part of the last day of the Legislative Summit.

The event will close with and NAHP and NNPA Luncheon where publications are recognized and corporate and appointed keynote speakers will address topics of importance to our industry and communities.
