IAPA extends deadline for journalists’ scholarship application entries

MIAMI, Florida (January 7, 2016)-The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) Scholarship Fund today announced the extension to January 31, 2016 of the deadline for journalists of the Western Hemisphere to submit applications for scholarships to carry out postgraduate studies in Latin America, North America or the Caribbean.

The scholarships, worth $20,000 each, cover an academic year at a university for journalists from Latin America or the Caribbean to study at accredited schools of journalism in the United States or Canada, while those from North America do so at Latin American or Caribbean universities.

Applicants should be journalists, be aged between 21 and 35, and be fluent in the language of the country where they are going to study. Since the founding of the Scholarship Fund in 1954 the IAPA program has been of benefit to more than 400 journalists of the Americas. Applicants to be awarded the scholarships will be chosen during the IAPA Midyear Meeting to be held April 2016 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
