Our Speakers: Senator Tim Kaine

Senator Tim Kaine has helped people throughout his life as a missionary, civil rights lawyer, teacher and elected official. He is one of 20 people in American history to have served as a Mayor, Governor and US Senator.

He was elected to the Senate in 2012 as a can-do optimist skilled in bringing people together across old lines of party, race or region. He is Ranking Member of the Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee and the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on State Department and USAID Management, International Operations and Bilateral International Development.Kaine is married to Anne Holton, who currently serves as Virginia Secretary of Education

Chief Education Division, Inter-American Development Bank, Washington DC. Vegas holds a Harvard Doctorate in Education, a Master in Economics at Duke and an undergraduate in communications.

She leads a team of specialists throughout the continent tasked to stimulate improvement in the quality of education and fi nd innovative initiatives to 21st century instruction and skills. Emiliana Vegas brings a different perspective on the relationships between media and public schools and the importance of guarantying intercultural experiences and respect for diversity in the public education process.

Francisco Moreno Fernández is Director of Instituto Cervantes at Harvard University and Executive Director of the “Observatory of the Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures in the United States”.

Mr. Moreno is also Professor of Hispanic linguistics at the University of Alcalá (Spain). He has been a visiting researcher at the universities of London, New York, Québec, and Tokyo as well as visiting professor at Göteborg University, Sao Paulo, Chicago, and Pontificia de Chile.

He is Corresponding Member of the Cuban Academy, a Corresponding Member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language, and a Corresponding Member of the Spanish Royal

Grace is recognized as one of the top Hispanic advertising representatives in the country. Since helping launch La Voz Arizona 16 years ago, she has grown to become the shared Hispanic National Account Representative for many leading Spanish language publications in the Southwest. Anita Grace Ad Execs is the Hispanic Advertising Specialist for Gannett (La Voz AZ, El Sol Salinas), Freedom News Group (Excelsior OC, La Prensa Riverside), Stephens Media (El Tiempo Las Vegas), AIM Media Texas and McClatchy (Vida en. For the past 3 years Anita has also served on NAHP’s Procurement Team as a Media Ambassador.

Our Speakers: Tasha Boone

Tasha Boone, Program Manager for the 2020 Census Integrated Partnership and Communications Program. Boone has a career of serving the public. She joined the Peace Corps after graduating from college and served two years in Botswana.

After returning from the Peace Corps she worked for the Americorps and the Corporation for National Service and the National Peace Corps Headquarters Office in Washington, DC. She started working at the Census Bureau in 1998.

Boone’s current job is working in the Decennial Directorate as Program Manager for the 2020 Census Integrated Partnership and Communications Program.
