Michelle Rea is the executive director of the New York Press Association, and a wholly-owned for-profit advertising subsidiary, the New York Press Service; and a foundation, the New York Press Association Foundation.
Prior to joining NYPA in January, 1992, Rea spent 15 years working for daily newspapers in New York.
Rea served for ten years as the Senate Majority Leader’s appointee to New York State’s Committee on Open Government. In 2011, on behalf of NYPA, she was the recipient of a three-year grant from the Charles H. Revson Foundation to develop programs and mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of the ethnic press in New York City.
She is a co-author of “An Open Courtroom: Cameras in New York Courts,” published by Fordham University Press.
